WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to the announcement today by Loudoun County, Virginia School Board member Beth Barts that she will resign, FreedomWorks for America’s Laura Zorc, commented:

“The Loudoun County School Board is beset by a multitude of major problems, including its emphasis on teaching Critical Race Theory, its cover-up of multiple instances of sexual assault, as well as its un-scientific requirement that low-risk school children continue to wear face masks throughout the school day.

“This is a victory for parents and students in Loudoun County. It also serves as an example for the nation of what a parent-led movement can do. Beth Barts not only doxed families across her own district, whom she claimed to be protecting, but also promoted a divisive, anti-American curriculum that teaches children to divide each other by immutable characteristics.

“Beth Barts also labeled parents as the ‘opposition’ earlier this year. It should come as no surprise then that Democrats like Terry McAuliffe also do not want parents to have any say in their children’s education. After all, McAuliffe is beholden to the same teacher unions that have fought tooth and nail to keep schools closed throughout the COVID pandemic, even as reading and math scores fall.

“Thankfully, we have people like Republican Glenn Youngkin running for governor who have promised to put parents and school kids first, ahead of bureaucrats and teacher unions. For this reason, FreedomWorks for America is proud to have issued its endorsement of Glenn Youngkin just yesterday. Our Virginia grassroots community is energized to turn-out the vote for Youngkin and restore freedom to the Old Dominion.”

Earlier this year, FreedomWorks’ Virginia grassroots community drove phone calls to the Loudoun County School District urging Beth Barts to resign. Our activists will continue to lead the way in demanding that failing and corrupt school board officials step aside and make room for leaders who will put parents and children ahead of leftist ideology.
