FreedomWorks for America Congratulates Glenn Youngkin on Victory in Virginia’s Governor Race

November 2, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. — FreedomWorks for America is proud to congratulate Glenn Youngkin on his hard-fought victory in Virginia’s governor race.

Noah Wall, FreedomWorks for America Executive Director, commented:

“We could not be more thrilled to hear of Glenn Youngkin’s victory. With this election, the people of Virginia have spoken loud and clear: They will no longer put up with establishment Democrats who say all the right things but do little in the way to actually help their citizens. For the past eight years, the great commonwealth of Virginia has been held back by Democratic leadership–if you can even call it that–from meeting its true potential. Mr. Youngkin’s victory in Virginia marks the beginning of a new era for the commonwealth in which people, not politics, will come first.

“The results of this race also have national implications and hint at what is to come in 2022. Most remarkably, what happened in Virginia tells us that education is no longer a Democrat-only issue. The groundswell of parent support for getting critical race theory out of schools and being able to have a bigger say in the education of their children has had a serious impact on this race and is only getting stronger across the country.

“Mr. Youngkin’s success is a tremendous achievement that has been made possible not only by a dynamic campaign and compelling pro-business, pro-parent message, but by the grassroots muscle of countless dedicated activists. In just the past two weeks of the race, FreedomWorks for America activists have sent over 300,000 peer-to-peer text messages, targeted at married registered voters between the ages of 30 and 59 who identify as Independents or Likely Republicans. Our primary messaging was focused on education; texts contrasted Terry McAuliffe’s horrible record on education with Glenn Youngkin’s firm stance against critical race theory (CRT) and desire to give parents more choice in their children’s education.

“Thank you to our grassroots activists for their outstanding work. To Mr. Youngkin, congratulations and best of luck as you step into your new role.”
